I’d like to give Françoise Sagan’s essay collection Life Is So Slow, and Hope So Wild as a gift. It collects letters Sagan exchanged with a friend. They were close friends who connected deeply. In a way, you could think of it as a book of the DMs or messages of that time. I’m always communicating with The B, our fans, on social media too. The form is different, but the affection they have for each other seems very similar to ours. As you read, you see Sagan’s girlish side in phrases like “Write to me soon,” “Reply soon,” and “Tell me you love me.” I found that relationship fascinating, and it also reminded me of my relationship with our fans. It was fun, like peeking at the DMs of that era. I hope The B can enjoy it as a sweet, light read.
