“I want to return to my childhood and reread Jules Verne’s classic science-fiction novels, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days, which I read a long time ago. These days, getting in touch with my inner child helps me relax.”

— You’ve written lyrics inspired by literary works such as 1Q84 and Demian, and the music video for “Spring Day” also quotes “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas,” a short story included in The Wind’s Twelve Quarters. What books are you reading these days? ▲ I’ve been reading a lot lately. I used to like digital devices, like an early adopter, but I’ve gone back to analog. I’ve started writing and reading books again, like when I was young. Not long ago, I read Life Lessons by psychiatrist and author Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. I have several of her books. Right now, I’m reading About Her by Japanese author Banana Yoshimoto. (Suga) ▲ I’m also reading Banana Yoshimoto’s Kitchen, which I found at home.
