This book is called The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I have mentioned it once before. I read it some time ago, but it has stayed with me, so I brought it again. It is by Milan Kundera and is set in the Czech lands. It shows some ugly sides of our lives and, at the same time, beautiful ones. Some people say, ‘When I watch a work or read a book, I want hope, dreams, something bright that will give me energy.’ But I also think we can find comfort in seeing these sides of life and thinking, ‘Their lives are like that too. Our lives are like that too.’ In that sense, this work belongs to the latter category. It is about lightness and heaviness. The book describes people who live lightly and, to put it simply, people who live heavily. I think it asks what kind of life I will choose and what kind of life will have value for me. In this book, living freely represents boundless lightness, while living with responsibility means feeling boundless heaviness. It makes me think about what that means to me and to my life. So the people I would like to recommend this book to are, rather than people with many worries, those seeking a path...

5. Milan Kundera, *The Unbearable Lightness of Being*, Minumsa: “Even though they loved each other, they gave one another a hell.” Not every love leads lovers to happiness and joy. The two protagonists of this book, while loving each other, gradually drive one another’s lives into a pit. That does not necessarily mean their lives were the worst, either. We cannot know whether they would have been happy had they lived a different life. It is, however, a novel that repeatedly makes you reflect on “the road not taken.”

“Not long ago, I read The Unbearable Lightness of Being, which tells the story of four men and women who are very different from one another. It seems to me that people are born as light as feathers and gradually take on weight as they go through life. Personally, I thought Sabina’s life was wonderful.”
