This book is called The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I have mentioned it once before. I read it some time ago, but it has stayed with me, so I brought it again. It is by Milan Kundera and is set in the Czech lands. It shows some ugly sides of our lives and, at the same time, beautiful ones. Some people say, ‘When I watch a work or read a book, I want hope, dreams, something bright that will give me energy.’ But I also think we can find comfort in seeing these sides of life and thinking, ‘Their lives are like that too. Our lives are like that too.’ In that sense, this work belongs to the latter category. It is about lightness and heaviness. The book describes people who live lightly and, to put it simply, people who live heavily. I think it asks what kind of life I will choose and what kind of life will have value for me. In this book, living freely represents boundless lightness, while living with responsibility means feeling boundless heaviness. It makes me think about what that means to me and to my life. So the people I would like to recommend this book to are, rather than people with many worries, those seeking a path...
