Poets look at things we often see in everyday life from a different perspective and express them in a few words. I think those words often resonate deeply. In this collection, I like the poem ‘Knot.’ In particular, when I read the passage, ‘Do not call it a knot. The hardest part—once, this too was so tender and fragile. It was only that passion went too far, and after a single wound, it could never bloom again,’ I thought that a poet could see a tree’s ‘knot’ in this way, too, and something about it really struck me.””

““저는 주로 시집을 좋아해요. 시는 시인의 성향과 감성이 가장 잘 드러나는 장르 같아요. 우리가 일상에서 자주 보는 것들도 시인들은 다른 시선으로 보고 이를 짧은 언어로 표현하잖아요. 그런 말들이 큰 울림을 줄 때가 많은 것 같아요. 이 시집에서는 ‘옹이’라는 작품을 좋아해요. 특히 “옹이라고 부르지 말라. 가장 단단한 부분이라고 한때는 이것도 여리디여렸으니 다만 열정이 지나쳐 단 한 번 상처로 다시는 피어나지 못했으니”라는 부분을 읽으면서, 시인의 눈으로는 나무의 그 ‘옹이’를 이렇게도 볼 수 있구나라는 생각이 들면서 뭔가 확 와 닿는 게 있었던 것 같아요.””
